What is wellness coaching?
Wellness coaching is a method by which a wellness coach works one-on-one or with individuals or with a group to help mentor, guide, and encourage them to strengthen areas of health in their life. Wellness coaches specialize in helping you to identify barriers and negative habits that are blocking you from meeting your wellness goals. Those wellness goals could include losing weight, decreasing your blood pressure, or even channeling your emotions, and finding spiritual focus.
What is "faith-based" wellness coaching?
My coaching style includes biblical scriptural principles for wellness and a holistic health approach. Though I don't throw scripture at clients, I do like to make them aware that my foundation for coaching is "faith-based" and as such, certain spiritual principles will be incorporated into certain sessions.
Do I need a wellness coach?
Everyone needs to be accountable to someone during their wellness journey. Otherwise, you will have a hard time meeting any goals you develop. If you need a "stable" person to be accountable to, and one who is skilled in helping people develop goals and see results, than a wellness coach would be perfect for you. Wellness coaching is based on a good rapport, trust and accountability, so it is important that you and your wellness coach are a good fit for each other. During a brief consultation, we will decide if I am a good fit for you as a wellness coach. If you would like a FREE brief consultation, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your FREE 20 minute consultation.
What happens in wellness coaching sessions?
Wellness coaching sessions consists mostly of assessments, questions, self-exploration, and conversations on how you can best meet your goals. Wellness coaching sessions are mainly done by phone, though some sessions might be done through e-mail, skype, or certain phone apps.
How many wellness coaching sessions do I need?
The number of wellness coaching sessions depends on what your goals are. After a brief consultation, a number of sessions will be recommended as the number of sessions that might best help you see results in your life.
What is the difference between a wellness coach and a personal trainer?
A personal trainer may provide nutrition recommendations and plans, but focuses mainly on enhancing your body through exercise. They may also help you set weight loss or muscle building goals. As a wellness coach, I, personally, focus more on helping you to identify areas of health that need to be addressed in order for you to be more effective in your weight loss or muscle building goals. I also focus more on dietary planning as I believe what you eat affects your body more than how much you exercise it. However, I also provide recommendations and challenges in the area of exercise.
What is the difference between a wellness coach and a COUNSELOR?
A wellness coach is not a counselor. A counselor may look into your past and help you identify and come to terms with some issues that may be hindering you in your life. A wellness coach focuses on helping you meet your present and future wellness goals. While a wellness coach may ask you questions about your past, it is not in an attempt to diagnose, treat, or identify issues, but rather in an attempt to learn more about you in order to help you best see results in your future wellness goals. If, I, as your wellness coach, feel that you have issues that may be more appropriate for a counselor to deal with, rather than a wellness coach, I will communicate that to you. I want all future clients to get their needs met and realize that though the scope of a wellness coach is broad, certain issues may need a more specialized approach.
I just want to lose weight. Can you help me do that?
Absolutely! To lose weight, you must create a caloric deficit. No matter the diet, in order to lose weight, there must be a deficiency of caloric energy. All diets, including low fat, low carb, Paleo, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and Atkins work under the premise of lower calories. The amount of carbohydrates, fat, and protein you consume may differ in these diets, but they all will still create a caloric deficit in order for you to lose weight. The same thing happens with most weight loss pills you take. Most weight loss pills you take are designed to suppress your appetite so that you end up eating less food. Thus, you create a caloric deficit. So, if you want to lose weight, you can probably utilize any of these diets or take one of the many weight loss pills on the market (though I wouldn’t recommend it). But weight loss is not only about losing weight, but sustaining the weight loss. There are other underlying issues that may be causing your weight gain, weight cycling, or halting your weight loss progress. My wellness coaching sessions address those issues, as well as plateaus. The wellness coaching sessions are more so about exploring weight loss methods to find what might work for your body, while providing you the tools and resources necessary for you to succeed in your wellness goals.

During the brief consultation, should you express great interest in utilization of my services, you will be provided a quote of prices for sessions. On average, wellness coaching sessions range in price but usually start at $100 for an hour long session.
